Check a HAKU product batch mark

Shiseido's HAKU range includes Melano Focus IV medicated serum in 20 g and 45 g formats, a 45 g refill, Day Brightening UV, Refiner, brightening foundation and cushion products. 'IV', 'F', SPF50+/PA++++, net weight and foundation shades describe the model, function or size; none is the manufacturing batch by itself.

Haku FAQ

Where is a HAKU batch code?

Inspect the base, refill cartridge, tube crimp, rear label and carton flap for a short mark separate from the Japanese sales name.

Is IV in Melano Focus IV a lot code?

No. IV identifies the product generation, while the manufacturing lot appears as a separate traceability mark.

Can I use the code on an old EV dispenser for an IV refill?

No. Use the IV refill cartridge or its carton because the reusable outer dispenser may have been manufactured earlier.

Match the HAKU format before decoding

Before you rely on the decoded date

  • Check the bottle or compact base, refill cartridge, tube crimp, rear label and carton flap. Photograph the Japanese sales name and whether the item is a main container, special-size set or refill together with the separate short printed or embossed mark.
  • Melano Focus IV refills can fit an earlier Melano Focus EV outer container. Date the current refill from its own mark, not from the reusable dispenser, and retain the refill carton until the cartridge is finished.

Common lookup mistakes

  • Do not submit IV, EV, F, 20 g, 45 g, SPF50+/PA++++ or a foundation shade as the batch code.
  • When a set contains full and special sizes, record each unit separately because their traceability marks can differ.

What to check next for Haku

For Haku, combine the decoded date with product type, PAO, storage, and seller context before deciding whether to open, keep, replace, or buy.
